Used
Cars
Buying
a second hand car can be stressful. There are a lot of potential
pitfalls to be on your guard against. Here are some of the things to
watch out if you are thinking of buying a used car.
Stolen
Cars
Tell-tale
signs may include the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) being
scratched off or the seller being unable to produce the vehicle
registration document (V5).
Car
still owned by a credit company
A
car bought on hire purchase (HP) still belongs to the finance company
until all the payments have been completed. If you buy a car still
owned by the lender, they can take it back. You can sue whoever sold
you the car, but only if you can find them.
Clocked
cars
Low
mileage can be a selling point, but the clock can be turned back to
reduce the number of miles shown. If the mileage is low but wear and
tear on the car looks heavy, the car could have been "clocked".
