Uig Featured in January's National Geographic Magazine

The first National Geographic magazine of 2010 has a fantastic feature about the Hebrides, which gives the reader a great insight in to the romance and spirit of our islands.

The photography accompanying by Jim Richardson the article is stunning, of course - including a breathtaking panorama of Uig Bay complete with a psychedelic sky, a shot of the Grimersta river, famous for Naylor's catch of 57 salmon in one day in 1888, and pictures of St Kilda, the deserted islands off the west coast of Uig.

 St Kilda Centre Project

The Uig community has been working hard in recent months on their proposal to host a St Kilda Visitor Centre in Uig.  Proposals from communities across the Outer Hebrides were assessed by Jura Consultants, and in December, Uig was both delighted and honoured to be selected as the recommended location.  Have a look at the St Kilda section in our local historical society's website for more information, have a look on the CEUig website.
